TESTIMONIES, CONVERSIONS AND HEALINGS

Many were the persons who saw with their own eyes, touched with their own hands, gathered and tasted the salt of the tears.

TESTIMONIES

The testimony of Mrs. Antonina Iannuso (the woman who received the miracle)
“...to my great surprise I noticed that the image of the Madonna shed tears from the eyes. I called my sister-in-law Grazia and my aunt Antonia Sgarlata, who were with me to assist me, indicating to them the tears. They, at first believed that it had to do with the hallucinations caused by the illness, but, after insisting that they go close to the image, they also ascertained that from the eyes of the Madonna tears were truly shed, and some drops, running down the cheek, fell on the headboard of the bed.”

The witness of Sebastiano Di Pietro, laborer:
“...I had the fortune to see with my own eyes a tear that welled up in the corner of the right eye and in that moment fell upon the cheek and rolled to the jaw in the direction of the chin...I was moved; tears escaped from me and I began to weep; I was almost ashamed that others would see me cry… I turned around and I saw that everyone was crying...”

CONVERSIONS
The spiritual healings and conversions were numerous. One of the most striking conversions is that of Dr. Michele Cassola, head of the medical commission that analysed the tears. An upright and honest man from a professional point of view, he did not deny the evidence of the lachrymation. Nonetheless he remained a non believer. Twenty years later, during the last week of his life, in the presence of the reliquary in which were sealed the tears that he himself scientifically analysed, he opened himself to the faith and received the Eucharist.

Enza Moncada

The witness of Mons Migliorisi who assisted Dr. Cassola in the last days of his life:
“...When, in the last days of the Holy Week, the daughter of Dr. Cassola presented me to him, I did not speak to him about God, but he, with a profound gaze said to me ‘I have understood.’ Holy Saturday was a great day. I asked the Rector of the Shrine for the Reliquary which I then brought to the Cassola home. The Doctor studied it a long time, kissed it, kissed the Crucifix with warmth, received the Eucharist with love...”

HEALINGS
The physical healings that the medical commission considered extraordinary numbered about 300 by mid-November of 1953. In particular:
Enza Moncada (paralysis)

Giovanni Tarascio (paralysis)

Vassallo, (tumour)

From the testimony of her husband, Dr. Salvatore Vassallo:

“...I communicate to you that my wife, Marianna Gaudioso, 43 years of age, has received from Our Lady of Tears the miracle of a healing held impossible from skilful clinics of Italy ... They diagnosed an epithelioma of the rectum... After five trips to Syracuse, to Our Lady of Tears, and after having applied a little of the blessed cotton she noticed a progressive improvement; today she does not suffer from it at all. The Prof. Selvaggi who visited her did not find any more signs of the tumour. He, himself, remained speechless and confused, he did not know how to explain the phenomenon scientifically.” (Syracuse, 4 October 1953)

If you have news of the testimonies at the time of the lachrymation or of particular graces granted through the intercession of Our Lady of Tears, send us your written testimony.......
