How can One respond to the Call of Mary’s Tears?

Here is A Proposal for You!

The event of Mary’s weeping marked the history of Syracuse and brought the convergence of numerous pilgrims from all over the world to honor the Blessed Mother, who with her prodigious weeping, had wished to once again, like at Lourdes and at Fatima, recall the whole world to conversion and holiness of life.

Wishing to respond to this silent and eloquent appeal of the Blessed Mother of God while celebrating the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the consecration and dedication of Our Lady of Tears Shrine, by His Holiness John Paul II, on 6 November 1994,

OUR LADY OF TEARS
ASSOCIATION
HAS BEEN ERECTED IN SYRACUSE, ITALY.

The Association proposes the following objectives:

1. To divulge and propagate the prodigious event of Mary’s weeping from 29 August - 1 September 1953 in Syracuse and to spread the message of Mary’s tears: an invitation to conversion, prayer, and penance;

2. To help the increase of devotion and love towards the Immaculate and Sorrowful Heart of Mary who, with her tears, expresses her maternal charity towards us her children;

3. To offer willing service to the Church for the construction and growth of the Kingdom of God in collaboration with the Pope and college of bishops;

4. To promote and support the charitable works undertaken by Our Lady of Tears Shrine;

5. To help and nourish the members’ life of faith.

Every member commits:

1. To participate at the celebration of the Holy Mass, to read and meditate the Word of God as spiritual nourishment for their personal faith life, and to regularly frequent the Sacrament of Reconciliation;

2. To the daily recitation of the Holy Rosary, offered for personal and universal conversion, world peace, the Pope, bishops, and priests, vocations to the priesthood and the consecrated life in service to the Shrine, for families, the sick, the elderly, youth, and for all those who recommend themselves to Our Lady of Tears;

3. To visit the sick with the blessed cotton touched to the miraculous image, as a token of fraternal charity;

4. To unite in communion of prayer with the Shrine in Syracuse, on the 29th of every month by reciting the Chaplet and the Petition to Our Lady of Tears and by participating at the members’ annual encounter to be held on November 6th at Our Lady of Tears Shrine;

5. To actively collaborate in the effort to form Our Lady of Tears Association into an extended family in which love, concord, and mutual respect equally reign, through the willingness to welcome our Heavenly Mother’s invitation with which once again, with the sign of her tears, she indicates to us to “do that which Jesus tells us”.

Spiritual benefits extended to the members
of Our Lady of Tears Association

1. On the 29th of each month, the Holy Mass will be celebrated for all of the Association’s members.
